# Elements

An Element is something you want to keep the same across takes: a character, a place, an object or a look. You give it a name, a handle, up to six reference images and a note about what must not change. Then you mention it in any prompt with `@` and the studio attaches the references and the note for you.

There are four kinds: **Cast**, **Locations**, **Props** and **Styles**.

## Creating one

Open **Elements** and press **New element**, or start from a take with **Create element** in its overlay.

#### Kind and name

Pick the kind. Give it a name of up to 60 characters. The handle is filled in from the name; edit it if you like. Handles are lowercase letters, numbers, dashes and underscores, up to 30 characters, and unique within your account.

#### References

Add up to six images from your uploads, assets, other Elements or earlier takes. Order matters: hover a reference to move it left or right, set it as the cover, or remove it. The first references get the model's reference slots when a take has many.

#### Notes

Say what must stay the same: "face, outfit, colour, mood". Up to 500 characters. The note is added to every prompt that mentions the Element.

#### Project, then create

File it under a project if you want, then press **Create element**.

## Mentioning an Element in a prompt

Type `@` in any prompt. A list opens with your Elements, filtered as you type by handle or name, followed by recent references and **Browse references**. Pick with the arrow keys and Enter, or click.

Each mentioned Element shows as a chip under the prompt. The chip's cross removes the mention from the text.

When you generate:

* the handle is replaced by the Element's name in the prompt the model sees;
* the note is appended once;
* the Element's references are attached, in order, in whatever reference slots remain after the images you attached directly, up to the model's limit.

An `@word` that matches nothing stays as plain text.

## Managing Elements

The Elements page groups cards by kind, with **All elements**, **Favourites**, each kind, and each project in the sidebar. Every card shows the handle, how many references it has and how many takes used it.

* Hover a card for **Use in prompt**, which copies the handle.
* The card menu offers **Edit**, **Move to project**, **Duplicate** (a copy with a numbered handle) and **Delete**.
* Click a card for the drawer: the note, kind, handle, how many takes used it, and the last twelve takes that mention it.

From a take's overlay, **Assign to element** adds that take as a reference to an Element you already have, as long as it has room.

There is no limit on how many Elements you can keep.
