# Assets and folders

**Assets** is the library of everything you store: every take you render and every file you upload, grouped by day. The sidebar filters it by **Type** (Images, Videos, Uploads), by **Project**, by **Folder**, and by what has been **Shared with me**.

## Uploading

Three ways in:

* The **Upload** button on the Assets page.
* Drag files anywhere onto the Assets page. Drop them when the overlay says **Drop to upload**.
* The **Uploads** tab of the reference picker, from any console.

Accepted files: JPEG, PNG and WebP images; MP4 and WebM video; MP3, WAV and M4A audio; and TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 fonts for the typography models. Up to 100 MB each. Uploads made while you are inside a folder land in that folder.

Uploads never expire and do not count against your retention window. They do count towards your storage quota.

## Folders

Folders are flat: no folders inside folders. An asset lives in at most one folder, so moving is a move, not a copy.

* **New folder** in the sidebar. Names up to 64 characters, unique within your account.
* Move assets by dragging tiles onto a folder in the sidebar, from a tile's menu (**Move to folder**, **Remove from folder**, **New folder**), or by selecting several and using **Move to folder** in the selection bar. Up to 200 at a time. The toast has a five-second **Undo**.
* A folder's menu offers **Rename**, **Assign to** (share it with workspace members) and **Delete**. Deleting a folder puts its assets back in All assets; nothing is lost.

## Projects

A project files takes, assets and Elements under one name, usually a film. **New project** lives in the sidebar here and in Cinema Studio. Uploads stay outside projects. See [Cinema Studio](/tools/cinema-studio).

## Selecting several

Tick tiles, or use the select-all box on a day. The selection bar offers **Download** (several files come as a zip), **Favourite**, **Move to folder**, **Assign to**, **Move to project** and **Delete**, with an inline confirm. Up to 100 at a time. In **Shared with me**, only Download is offered.

## Finding things

Search matches the prompt of a take or the name of a file. Inside a folder it searches that folder.

## Opening an asset

An upload shows its file name, type, size, dimensions and when it was added. A take shows the model, type, size, date, folder and, when the retention window is running, how many days remain. **Use as reference** opens the Image console with the asset attached.

## Using assets as references

Any image asset can be a reference: press **Use as reference**, pick it in the reference picker from any console, or type `@` in a prompt and choose it from the references list. Audio uploads can be references on the models that take a voice or music clip. See [Video](/tools/video).

## Deleting

Deleting is immediate and permanent, for takes and uploads alike. There is no restore.
